A neighbourhood restaurant
When Annamaria first came to see this space, she was looking for something different. Not another Thamel - she loves Thamel. She wanted green surroundings. A restaurant that felt like part of a neighbourhood's life.
She found it inside the International Club at Surendra Bhawan, Sanepa - a place where the mornings are slow, the trees are close, and there is no particular reason to rush.
The same recipes arrived with the tables. The same tomato sauce, the same homemade mozzarella, the same Illy coffee. Sanepa became its own thing - quieter, more local, built for the kind of morning or evening that does not need to be anywhere else

SLOW MORNINGS
Mornings at Sanepa.
Before the rest of the city starts, Sanepa is already open. From 8 in the morning, the kitchen is ready - croissants, eggs, coffee, the full Italian breakfast menu. The kind of morning that does not feel rushed because nothing here is asking you to be.
Italian breakfast is not a category at Sanepa. It is the reason the doors open at 8
Croissant & Coffee
Plain or ham and cheese. With a cappuccino made from freshly ground Illy. Some mornings need nothing more than this.
Colazione All' Inglese
Two fried eggs, imported bacon, sausage, tomato, sautéed mushrooms, toast. The breakfast for when you mean it - and you have the morning to enjoy it.
Continental Set Menu
Focaccia bread, cheese, a hard-boiled egg, sliced tomatoes, and your choice of imported ham or sautéed mushrooms. A full European table in one order.
Italian Set Menu
Orange juice, fresh bread, butter and jam, cappuccino. The lightest way to start an Italian morning.

Breakfast is how the day starts at Sanepa. But the kitchen stays open - and the full Fire And Ice menu is available through lunch and dinner.
Hand-rolled pizza from the stone-base oven. Fresh pasta. Lasagna. Organic salads. Homemade desserts. The Softy - Italian soft ice cream that has been part of the menu since 1995. And the full coffee and drinks list, all day.
The same food that has been served in Thamel for thirty years. Here, with a little more room to breathe.

A NEW CHAPTER
The same story,
a new chapter
Fire And Ice Pizzeria began in Thamel in January 1995 — founded by Annamaria Forgione, who arrived in Nepal from Naples in 1988 and has never quite left.
Sanepa is the newest chapter of that story. Twenty-eight years after the first pizza came out of the Thamel oven, Annamaria found a space with green surroundings, a quieter neighbourhood, and the right kind of morning light.
The fire is still going.
