The Food
What we Serve
The full Fire And Ice menu is available at Thamel - pizzas hand-rolled and baked in a calibrated Italian stone-base oven, freshly made pasta, lasagna, organic salads, homemade desserts, and the full coffee and drinks list.

Signature Pizzas
Thirty years of pizza, each one made to order. From the simple Margherita to the Rompipalle - the only pizza on this menu born from Nepalese spice - every pizza starts with the same tomato sauce Annamaria has been making since the farmers market days.

FIRE AND ICE, THAMEL INTERIOR
The Long View
Thirty years of the same table
Annamaria Forgione opened this restaurant on 10 January 1995. She had arrived in Nepal seven years earlier, recovered her health in Kathmandu, sold homemade tomato sauce at the Summit Hotel market, and then decided - if you have passion, courage sure comes.
That first week, her hands shook every time she served a plate. The first customer was a young man from the international school. He came back.
Thirty years later, many of the people who walk through this door have been coming here since they were children.

The Space
The original.
This is where Annamaria opened the doors in January 1995 with eight pizzas and a kitchen she had built from scratch. The dining room has changed over the years - grown warmer, grown more familiar, but the feeling has not.
Thamel has always been where Kathmandu's worlds meet. Trekkers back from the mountains, expats who have been here twenty years, families who have been coming since they were children, and first-time visitors who wander in off Tridevi Sadak and find something they were not expecting — a proper Italian meal, made properly, in the heart of Nepal.
The walls are red. Italian music plays. The mozzarella is homemade. The coffee is Illy.
It is exactly what it has always been.
